The Economics of Libation

The Economics of Libation

By Nana Yaw Sarpong

Rumours of death

Rumours of birth

Gin must come to the rescue

Life is here
Death is here
Good old schnapps
Bearing the crest of
The Royal Netherlands

The chronic duality begins
And even there
At sunrise and sundown
With the smell of fermented sugarcane at Ada Foah
Rising to meet rotten peach at Schiedam
Schiedam wins on the sixth of March
The earth must be wet
For our ancestors see with blue eyes.
