Notelet to Feline

Never will you ever distinguish
Ecstasies of maternity
Of cultivating freshness of life
Human fright of birth
Transported this cargo on you
In the day amidst spells of catnaps
Dreams unborn of kittens
Perfect your peaceable cradle

“This poem is dialogue with a lovely, lonely female cat who has had to undergo sterilization so she does not disrupt the human order. In her owner’s mind, the cat is lonely even during her long day of sleep. Her owner feels guilty and writes her a letter in an attempt to heal the imaginary rift between them.”
