Baby

Inside you

the silence was enough.

Author Comment

“The brevity of this poem identifies it as only a prelude to the ideas that will form in the reader’s mind. The sharp, solemn nature of ‘Baby’ desperately seeks for a reference point, forcing readers to search themselves rather than let the poem ‘die’ as abruptly as it does. The title of the poem contrasts with the body, letting readers know they missed something as if it were obvious, ultimately shocking them. The poem is a ‘shallow grave’ expressing the solitude of the womb, the companionship of a woman, and the shallowness of the male.”
