Ep. 47 Found In Translation

This episode of Air Schooner is all about translation as a creative act.  It opens with a reading from Fortino Sámano (The Overflowing of the Poem) by Virginie Lalucq & Jean-Luc Nancy.  The translators, Cynthia Hogue and Sylvain Gallais, provide a conversation on what the act of translating this book from the French entailed.  Activist, journalist, poet, and translator Kumar Mukesh also speaks on translation as a form of activism for women, children, and untouchables in India. The episode wraps up with a reading of the poem “Like a Desert Flower” by Parween Faiz Zadah Malaal, which appeared in the Winter 2013 issue of Prairie Schooner.
