Like a drop of water the will
Hovers above without contact
Adjacent to but always detached from
Its limbeck which is the soul
The will keeps distance
It flows free
Of any agent
Sufficient that it is itself
At all times
In all places
About the Author
Louise Ho is the doyenne of English poetry in Hong Kong. Born in the city, she has lived in Mauritius, England, America, and Australia. She was an associate professor of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a visiting scholar at Harvard. Ho has published three collections of poetry, as well as her collected poems, Incense Tree (Hong Kong UP). Retired from her teaching profession, she now lives and writes in Australia and Hong Kong.
