Ep. 48 War Portfolio
In this Air Schooner episode, Stacey Waite and Scott Winter feature writers whose work illuminates the consequences of war. We will hear from Brian Turner, an American soldier and poet who edited the War Portfolio for the Winter 2013 issue of Prairie Schooner. We will also hear from Edwardo Halfon as he reads from his story “The Lady in the Red Coat,” also published in the same issue of Prairie Schooner. Halfon’s story portrays the war, conflict, and violence ubiquitous in Guatemalan society in the 1960’s. Lastly, poet and former contributor Martha Silano reads her poem “Distressed Boyfriend Khaki’s” in an interview with Prairie Schooner Managing Editor, Marianne Kunkel.
